Look what I made! All by myself!

That's my Trek jack-o-lantern, in case you couldn't tell. I'm very proud of myself - I decided to add it onto the side of my regular-faced pumpkin, and kind of made it up as I went along. I can't believe how well it turned out, given my complete lack of artistic talent!

And here is a link to a Star Trek Halloween gangbang fic that I wrote two years ago. Yes, two years. And I shall keep re-posting it every year until I get around to writing another Halloween fic. Enjoy!

ETA: Have another awesome Halloween fic, with appropriate Gaga title. Kirk/McCoy, by [livejournal.com profile] canis_takahari - There's a Monster in my Bed.

1. Zach bought Noah a purple bed. <3

2. Thanks to everyone who responded to and commented on my recent poll :-D Or, I should say, thanks to most of you. Note: To anyone who answered 4 or 5, if I end up getting that picture as a Christmas gift, you will FEEL MY WRATH. ;-) Dan found that drawing online somehow and was like "OH MY GOD, THIS LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE HIM!" and I was just in disbelief, like "WHAT THE FUCK, THAT LOOKS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING LIKE HIM!! THAT LOOKS LIKE A DRUNK HOBO!" and he's like "WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF I GOT THIS FOR YOU AS A PRESENT?" and I'm like "I WOULD CRY." The "artist" did drawings like that of a whole bunch of celebrities....I'm still not quite getting over the fact that he charges (and possibly makes) money off of them. I was under the impression that actual artistic talent was required for that sort of thing. Sigh. Missed opportunity.

3. Dan went by his mom's house and hit the jackpot on Star Trek: The Next Generation action figures from his childhood. Seriously, he has like every single character and all of the accessories and he brought them home so now I have them, wheeeeeee! Pictures to come, eventually :-D

4. Speaking of Star Trek, we've been taking full advantage of the new Netflix availability. We started watching TOS but then got distracted by watching ALL of Enterprise and OMG - I love it! For some reason, I didn't think I would but... ♥♥♥♥♥♥ I love all of the characters!!! Except Trip. Sorry. But I even love T'Pol and I totally thought she would annoy me but ♥♥♥♥♥♥! I'm dying for her to get with Archer though. I've only watched about a quarter of the episodes, while Dan's been watching the entire series...we're up to like episode 80 now.

Enterprise fic recs? Anyone? Like I said, I love them all, except Trip, he annoys me, but maybe it would be okay in fic since I wouldn't have to listen to his voice. But srsly, you guys...I'd even read het for this show. And that's saying something.

I'm looking forward to getting back to TOS though. I'll keep you updated with my thoughts and observations along the way!

5. Fic update - posted my trekrpfexchange fic - I'll repost it here soon. From this point forward - no more challenges/exchanges/charities/birthdays etc until I finish my long-ass, kind of fucked up, Help Queensland fic and then a bunch of other fics that I'm aching to write. Life is insane, so this might take awhile.

6. Speaking of life - next weekend I'm heading up to Montreal for a long weekend with my family. Dan's staying home with the dogs. Then a little while after that we're off to Belize for a week. It's only been 2 years since our last trip, but I'm so freaking excited to go back to Central America. My heart is happy.

On September 10, 2009, I posted my first fanfic EVER!

Actually, I posted it to a different journal then, and a couple communities - I created this journal 4 days later, but I didn't repost it here until October 19.

Here is what I wrote one year ago today - Torn. I wrote it because I couldn't decide which pairing I liked more - Kirk/Spock or Kirk/McCoy...and I was like how could Jim decide?! And I wanted someone to write about, but no one did. So I was like, fuck this, and I wrote it. It was going to be a ficlet, then I went all minimalist and turned it into a drabble of exactly 100 words (the first drabble in Torn), which turned into a series of 10 drabbles, which turned into 10 chapters of 10 drabbles, for a total of 10,000 words as the series Beyond Measure.

The first installment kinda makes me cringe a little now, but I still love the story overall, and writing it was an awesome way to get into the Star Trek fandom, get addicted to writing (and feedback), and thereby seal my fate :-D

For some reason, Lady Gaga and Star Trek fandom have become inextricably linked in my mind, and I'm sure in the minds of many others. So I decided to compile a sort of list of Lady Gaga-inspired fandom creations.

The scary thing is, these are the ones I came up with off the top of my head, without any additional research. Clearly, I have issues. So I'm sure are more out there! Let me know of any others you can think of in the comments and I'll add them to the list. Feel free to spread the word!

BRB WATCHING STAR TREK XI! WHEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

Taking [livejournal.com profile] verizonhorizon's advice to update here with my random hilarious insightful okay mostly just random thoughts.

- Kirk's face when McCoy is getting him on the shuttle is really hilarious. I never noticed that before.

- Pike is hot. I did notice that before but it's worth mentioning.

- I don't think it's the normal viewer reaction, when the Enterprise comes out of warp into the battle with the Narada, to think "OMG, there is so much love in this movie." But what can I say, there's Kirk and Spock and everyone's working together and it's just like...LOVE!

- Engineer Olsen is dumb.

- Spock looks pretty fuckin' relaxed in that Captain's chair.

- Okay, this has always bothered me - why does Spock squat down on the transporter pad? don't get me wrong, i love it, it looks totally hot and badass, but I always assumed that it was so he could, like, take off running the moment he was on the planet's surface. But then when he gets there, he just stands up, looks around, and THEN runs. so, i'm just saying...what was the point?

- i still kind of love spock/uhura. also, they were totally doing it at the Academy. i mean, they were at least making out. I loved how in the shuttle bay Spock looks around all guiltily before he assigns Uhura to the Enterprise.

- hey nero, did it happen?

- "Permission to speak freely?" "I welcome it." No, actually, I don't think you do, Spock, stop lying. Also, I was bummed to learn that "Are you out of your Vulcan mind" was a line used in...I think it was Wrath of Khan? and wasn't specifically written for this movie. Although, I do give major props to the TOS writers for that one.

- I want Spock Prime's jacket. But not to live on an ice planet. Leonard Nimoy's nostrils are epic. I claim them.

- "also my mother was human, which makes earth the only home i have left" - i watched that line extra carefully because i just saw an interview where they were saying that they were all cracking up / breaking down so hard that they actually had to take a break in order to get that scene right. would have loved to be a fly on that wall...

- I SEE YOU ROMULAN JOE QUINTO! I HEAR YOU WIL WHEATON!

- SPOCK, IT'LL VERK.
TELL LIEUTENANT UHURA THAT I LOVE HER VAGEEN.
VAGEEN? JESUS.
or at least, that is how the scene goes in my head.

- Before the movie is over, I just want to take this time to make one of my favorite observations about this movie, which is just that in addition to being so badass, everyone on the Enterprise is freaking amazingly good at their jobs and at handling emergency situations, and here is the reason that Kirk is/will be an amazing captain - because he just automatically cares so much about his crew. When he screams "Sulu" and jumps off the drill to save him? I don't know if he knew Sulu before that, but if he didn't, that's some pretty hardcore loyalty right there. And then he knows everyone's name, like Chekov's on the bridge, and then he's all "I won't allow you to do that Mr. Spock." Plus he has swagger and a massive cock. Sigh. I love Kirk.

- you can totally tell that ZQ's fingers are glued together in the scene with Spock Prime, because his fingers are too relaxed. come on, Zach - ACTING!

- Sadness, movie is over, I must collapse into bed immediately. LL&P.

ExpandWALKING POST! )

And here's the other reason I can't do party post tonight - EPIC PINTO fic is epically eating my brain. I'm sorry, I hate to taunt you, I really do, but I have to talk about this. It's over 11,000 words and I still have a whole bunch of scenes to write. I am so in love with this fic, I want to live in it. Well, I kind of have lived in it, as it's drawn so hard on my own experiences - without the gay sex, of course (sadly). That's all I'll say without giving away what it's about. If I were at all capable of writing in some sort of linear fashion, I would post it as a WIP, but yeah, that's not happening. I still might post it as chapters when it's done, depending on how it can be broken up. What do you guys think, say the fic was like 20,000 words, would it be better to post it all at once in parts or drag it out and post a chapter a day or something even if it's complete? Which would you be more likely to read?

Ahhh, fuck, maybe I will make some party post macros...
