i'm watching The Price of Milk right now. Yay, Kiwi Karl! Kind of in love with this movie so far, and by that I mean kind of in love with Karl and I want to steal him away from this chick in the movie and take him away and lick his cute face. OMG, I saw Karl's butt! Okay, I'm done. Also put Bottle Shock on Netflix Instant Play so I can watch that whenever I want :-D
Fics are slowly coming along. I really hate it when I decide to rework entire portions of
In conclusion - WHY SO CUTE, KARL?
ETA: Now I'm watching Center Stage. What can I say, Dan is passed out on the couch, so I'm having my own personal GQMF movie marathon ;-)
OH MY GOD i think i might accidentally like this movie :-/
( LOL, she said 'unconditionally, irrevocably in love' )

Last night we went to see Boondock Saints: All Saints Day, and it was awesome.

Boondock Saints is one of my husband’s (and my) favorite movies. For a little history, the movie originally came out in 1999 and had extremely limited release (the original story that I heard was that it came out in 2001 near Sept 11 and was never released because it's a violent movie, but imdb told me otherwise). Either way, this meant that people had to discover it on their own. A lot of people have seen it now, maybe you could say it has a cult following, but when I first saw it in 2003, I don’t think many people had seen it. There were rumors about a sequel, but the writer/director Troy Duffy basically had a falling out with Hollywood which meant that he was going to have a lot of trouble getting the second movie made (Overnight is a documentary about how Troy Duffy's massive ego ruined his potential, etc.) It was “In Pre-Production” on imdb for years, and we’d basically given up on its ever being made, but then I saw a preview online last year and started getting excited. Then a few months ago, my husband and I had this conversation:
Him: How far is it to Pittsburgh?
Me: Um, I think it’s like a 5-hour drive?
Him: That’s the nearest place that showing Boondock Saints 2. Is that too far to go?
Me: (Actually considers it) Yes.
So when I saw that they were showing it at the Troc (a concert venue that shows movies on Monday nights), we got REALLY excited :-D So given that build up, you can see that we had pretty effing high expectations for this movie!!!
So, did it live up to them? (Cast spoilers but no plot spoilers under the cut.)
( Are we Catholics? Fuckin’ Christ! )
So in conclusion, definitely check this movie out if you liked Boondock Saints. (And if you haven't seen Boondock Saints - GO WATCH IT!) It’s available on Netflix so I’m pretty sure we’ll be watching it again within the week. Needless to say, I will probably be a bit more sober during the second viewing, so we’ll see if my opinions hold.
There are so many good quotes/lines in the movie that I had to really narrow it down to figure out which ones I wanted to use in this post. So in conclusion I will just say:
“Ding dong, motherfucker, DING DONG!”

Smokin Aces (CPine!)
ST II: Wrath of Khan
ST III: Search for Spock
ST IV: The Voyage Home
ST V (i think?): Generations (watched the first half, watching the rest tonight)
(I'm planning a longer post wherein i reflect on the awesomeness of the ST movies, with only minimal mockery. TIME WARP!)
Tonight we watched -
ST XI !!!!!!!!!!!! <----In case you were wondering, this movie is still AWESOME! Also, I finally transcribed the convo between Pike and Kirk at the bar (FIC TEASER!)
and
Ghost Ship (KU! And it wasn't even my idea to watch it!)

Movie recs
Jan. 18th, 2010 03:00 pmQuick post with two movie recommendations. First, let it be known that I watch a lot of movies (at home, not in the theater) and that I am NO critic. Seriously, I think everything is good. Except GI Joe. And X-Files 2. And I didn't really think Sunshine Cleaning was as great as other people thought it was. ANYWAY. Two movies that I watched recently that I liked were:
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist - I swear I didn't just like this because there was a drunk girl named Caroline (though it didn't hurt). It was like the hipster version of teen movies (and I loooove teen movies) + Michael Cera. So, yeah. And it wasn't too long. And there was a band made up of gay high school boys. And John Cho was in it for like 5 seconds. Do you see what I'm saying? There are a lot of reasons to like this movie!
The Brothers Bloom - I had no idea what to expect, but this movie was great! From the whole intro narrative which was awesome, to Rachel Weisz being adorable, to Adrian Brody (and his clothes!), it was all good. It was a little long and could have ended like 3 different times, but didn't really drag and was pretty entertaining throughout. Let's put it this way - I closed my computer while I was watching this movie. If that doesn't say something, I don't know what does.
See what I mean, I am no critic. But that doesn't mean my opinion doesn't count, right? :-)

Saw two movies in the theater yesterday, after not seeing any since...Star Trek? Possibly? Anyway, first we saw Avatar on IMAX 3D. The movie has been somewhat over-promoted, which can be annoying, but at the same time, I have to say - GO SEE THIS MOVIE, ON IMAX 3D IF YOU CAN!! It is worth the money and just will not be the same on DVD.
The movie was absolutely amazing. It really does live up to the hype of being a totally new "movie watching experience" because it really felt like an experience, not just a movie. I really loved the surround sound of the IMAX, it seriously felt like you were in the action. The 3D helped with that also, it was used VERY effectively in my opinion, and not gimmicky. Absolutely gorgeous and I ended up really liking all of the characters that were supposed to be likable. Plus, it made me feel emotions. I think Dan was a little heartbroken at the end of the movie because he is not a 10-foot tall blue creature and because Pandora doesn't exist. I think we may go see the movie again next weekend if we can get tix to the IMAX 3D again.
Then we spent a few hours at home and later decided to go out late (10:45) and see Sherlock Holmes (thus getting out of the way all of my requisite movie theater watching until March). Sherlock Holmes was good, but we were definitely spoiled by having seen Avatar that same day. Sorry, but they just do not compare, and Sherlock Holmes will translate better to DVD. That said, it's definitely worth watching and was very enjoyable. RDJ was absolutely wonderful as Holmes, and Rachel McAdams was great (Jude Law was good too, but the mustache reduces the hotness and so he was just okay). Dan's comment after the movie was that "there wasn't enough drunken boxing" ha ha! OH! Also - my favorite scene from the trailer - where Holmes and Watson are poking each other and Rachel McAdams says something like "will you two stop flirting?" - WASN'T IN THE MOVIE!!!! WTF?!?! I am sad.
Now we're watching Star Trek: The Next Generation, and it's the episode where Data is playing Holmes and Geordi is Watson! Awesome.

Movie Monday
Dec. 30th, 2009 10:07 pmSo there is a venue in Philadelphia called The Troc, and every Monday night they show a movie. It's great because it's $3 to get in and that goes toward a drink. There's a bar, and they show newish movies (or sometimes older movies that are good), and they sometimes have raffles, costume contests, etc.
Last week we went and saw Inglourious Basterds, which I had really wanted to see, so I was so glad to see it on a "big screen". Needless to say, I really loved the movie and I had heard/read all the hype about Eli Roth and...yeah...well...he's basically Zachary Quinto, so obviously I found him hot and kickass and all that jazz.

( More Eli + The Hangover )
