You know the procrastination is bad when I update my Fic List.

Soooo...I just updated my Fic List!

I don't really love the format, so I could use some advice.

In what order should I list fic? Some options include:
- Chronological - and if so, most recent first, or oldest first? And should I include date posted on the fic list?
- Length - and if so, longest or shortest first?
- And should I have AUs kind of separated out from non-AUs?
- My favorites first / Fics I want people to read first / Most popular fics first?
- Series / one-shots / PWP / Crack?
- or some combination (aka series first, then the rest of them by date, etc.)

(I considered doing a poll, but there are too many options.)

Anything else about the format that would make it easier?
- should i include date of posting?
- do the "teaser" quotes add anything? i like to think they draw people in (and the whole point is to get people to read my fic, dammit!) But they also make each one so long, so maybe I should take them out?
- anything else?
- tell meeeeeeeeeee!

Back from a wonderful anniversary weekend! We went down to St. Michael's, MD and stayed at an awesome bed & breakfast there. Spent some quality time the first day at the Brewery, where we met another couple from the DC area. We ended up meeting up with them again the next night and drinking with them for hours - yay new (drunk) friends! ;-) We also demolished a dozen crabs between the two of us for dinner on Saturday night.

On Sunday we went kayaking for most of the day. Drank prosecco and white wine in the kayak because we are classy like that. Watched a bald eagle flying right above us. Swam around in the bay until we both got lightly stung by jellyfish (we knew they were in the bay but they're not dangerous. The stings didn't hurt much at all, and it was kind of a bonding experience since we both got to learn what it felt like!) Watched some redneck karaoke and ate crab and shrimp in like every style possible.

Then today we did a wine tasting and walked around and went to the harbor to look for Johnny Depp's yacht (not really - he's in Hawaii filming PoTC 4 - but supposedly a lot of celebs come to that area and his yacht has been seen there, along with a bunch of other famous peoples').

Now I'm back home snuggling my dog (dog-free vacation was LOVELY...but at the same time we're already planning to bring her with next time...sigh).

FIC UPDATE:
- EPIC PINTO IS FINISHED. Hoping to post later this week all in one go. CLEAR YOUR SCHEDULES!!
- [livejournal.com profile] reeltrek fic is in the works!
- Coffee Fix - I got a little distracted last week, but I do have two more installments planned. I've started the first one, just have to sit down and make myself finish it and not get distracted by shiny new plotbunnies.
- [livejournal.com profile] rpf_big_bang fic is stalled out at 7,000 words. I need to punch it in the face to get it going again.
- Fuck you all for making me consider a Trekkies In Love sequel. And by "consider" I mean "start writing." See above note re: shiny new plotbunnies. I would be mad at my brain if I weren't so excited.

ha ha, we really weren't that far from civilization, but i guess i just had to post to say, i'm back!

camping was really fun. we got there late thursday night and realized we had no firewood, and we were kinda standing around our campsite in the totally empty campground being sad, when a dude pulls up with his girlfriend and they were like "hey, do you need firewood? we have extra!" I love it when shit like that happens.

the first night was freezing, then the next two days were absolutely beautiful gorgeous HOT days! we didn't do much, mostly sat around, drank, i read an actual book, i wrote fic in my head, we walked around in the woods. oh and we got our pug a life preserver and put it on her and dropped her in the middle of the creek and laughed hysterically as she swam back to the shore. omg, you guys, it was priceless. also not as cruel as it sounds. ;-) also i roasted marshmallows and made out with chris pine. i mean, what? i did roast marshmallows though.

then we spent today with my family and then i went to a phillies game with them. it was a great game to begin with, and then i told my brother i write fanfic. my brother is the shit and he was super impressed and wants to read some of it. i love him.

so now i'm back and totally torn. i'm caught up on my f-list and most comments, but i have like 20 tabs of fic open that i want to read, but i also want to write more fic, and i have other posts i want to make, and i want to watch pinto videos, and comment on peoples' 3-day-old posts. what do i dooooooo?

well, right now i'm going to go read some hot pinto right before i go to bed. because you can never go wrong with that business. g'night! see you tomorrow!

Sometimes I wish I could understand my brain.

So I took a mini-break from epic Pinto fic today (21,000 words and counting). I decided to try to write some quick fics and see how it went. I ended up writing four (4!) fics, each between 1,000-2,000 words long. 3 Pinto, 1 Kirk/Spock. HERE'S THE THING - I'm going to SAVE THEM and post them for special occasions, such as people's birthdays or times when I feel like i haven't posted in forever, or when I am working on a longer fic that's not going to get done for a while and i want people to appreciate remember my existence.

here's the other thing - it was such a rush to write 4 fics in one day. i kinda want to try it again? tomorrow? TERRIBLE IDEA! speaking of ideas, i couldn't fucking believe that i came up with ideas for 4 fics today. two hardest things for me in writing - 1) ideas. 2) ideas that take less than 2,000 words to execute.

SO. if you want to help out (and if LJ decides on a whim to actually fucking email me my comments, heaven forbid, but who's bitter), give me some prompts. not the kind where i am promising to write a response. but, if i find an idea striking, maybe it will help me to spew fics like insanity like i did today. or maybe i will take your prompt and make it into something completely different, thereby ruining everything you were hoping for. you know. that sort of thing. i'll take pinto, kirk/spock, kirk/mccoy, or karl/zach. ETA: AND TELL ME WHEN YOUR BIRTHDAY IS FOR A CHANCE TO WIN, I.E. MAYBE IF I HAVE A DEADLINE I WILL BE ABLE TO FORCE THE INSPIRATION. OR JUST GET DEPRESSED THAT I CAN'T. EITHER WAY. TELL MEEEEEEE!

after i am done with this little obsession, i will go back and finish epic pinto. that fic is my life and i won't stop until it's DONE! but, i do think this little break will be good for my smut soul.

I broke my own rule and started three - THREE - new fics today! By started, I just mean that I put some words on paper, but still. One of them is an EPIC PINTO fic that I just came up with today and wrote, like, 2,000 words. Don't get excited, it will be a long one and will probably take a while to finish, and I want to finish a bunch of shorter things before I devote the time to that. But still. I'm excited. But annoyed at my brain for not waiting until I finish one thing before a thousand new ideas come pouring into my head.

Speaking of which, if you're not reading Trick by [livejournal.com profile] greenappleseas, you are missing out some serious hotness. Like serious, eating my brain, I am so invested in these characters, I've read each chapter at least twice, and it is just all around awesome. It's a WIP but 4 out of 5 chapters are up!

And finally, it's a wedding [post] and you're all invited! ;-D

A quick post to tell you a few things...

- I am preparing a KU picspam of epic proportions.

- BOONDOCK SAINTS 2: ELECTRIC LJ REVIEW

- This Is Us (Part 5) will be posted THIS WEEK. I AM SAYING IT HERE SO I FEEL TOTALLY BAD IF IT DOESN'T HAPPEN.

- OMG, I am working on a prompt from STXI Sinfest v. 8. You can find out what it is if you read every prompt comment. Otherwise, just know that it is Kar/Zach - WTF HOTNESS BRAIN OVERLOAD?!?!?

- I started JKMC4. If you know what that is, get excited. At this rate, I will probably finish it by 2011, HELLZ YEAH. :-D

This morning we went to my parents' house. I had to sort/clean out a bunch of STUFF...and when I say "stuff", I mean papers from elementary school through college...look through school papers, notes, projects...pictures and gifts and notes from old boyfriends...stuff I collected throughout my travels, everything from a photo album from my first family trip to Europe when I was 11, through TONS of brochures, postcards, etc from my three months studying abroad in London...etc. I am so protective of that stuff - IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MEMORIES, MAN! (name that movie), so it was really hard for me. I got through about half of it and I was shaking at the end from the adrenaline and from just sucking it up and throwing stuff out. DON'T GET ME WRONG - I still saved a LOT! Luckily my parents were very supportive of me saving stuff...they were all "don't throw it out if you don't want to! you can always come back and sort it again in 5 years!" - but they did want me to kind of cull the madness and put most of the stuff in boxes. It was easy to throw out all my old college notes (keep in mind, I had gone through this stuff 8 years ago and decided to SAVE all that! so i guess it does get easier over time). But I still saved all of my school papers and creative writing projects from 8th grade, haha!

Oh, and did I find some TREASURES! Oh man, like a little journal/notebook that I spilled my guts out in (i never kept a diary, so when i wrote in this journal it was like these urgent outpourings, mostly professing love or angst for various real or fictional people). That little book also caused some serious pain when some girls at camp discovered it and read it out loud to my friends when I wasn't there. BUT - now that I can look back on it, I TOTALLY plan to quote some of it here for the LULZ :-D

Okay, moving on to the next part of the day, then we went to an Asian market to get some ingredients to make Vietnamese pho. Found lots of cool stuff at the market and then some stuff that was SERIOUSLY ODD. For instance, there was a sign that said:
BEEF AND GOAT
TESTES
PIZZLE

I could not make that up. There was also lots of stuff in the meat section, like your usual tongue and pigs ears and feet but then there were also veal LIPS - LIPS????? I think they had fur on them still! And then there were the "Chicken Uteri". WTF!?!?! Okay. I would eat it in another country to be honest, although it would help if Anthony Bourdain was feeding it to me, but still. It was ODD. (Oh, and in case you thought I could write a whole post without a Star Trek reference, there was also something labeled something like "Thi la")

Speaking of chefs, if I may have a small tangent, did anyone ever watch that show "Take Home Chef" with Curtis, the tall, hot Aussie?

Tall, hot Aussie )

THEN, when we were looking for a parking spot back at our apartment, we passed a car with a bumper sticker with the following slogan: "Chimps. Yes, you can eat them."
Again - WTF?

Then, because it's obviously just that kind of day, I gave in and read Pinto tentacle-porn. And made related macros.

What other weirdness have you got, day? Hit me! I can take it!

Quick post to say I am still alive. I have finally caught up on fic from last weekend, ha ha. Seriously, guys - SLOW DOWN WITH THAT SHIT! fucking prolific writers, grumble grumble. Although, if you are writing stuff like this, I demand that you quit your jobs and dedicate your life to writing more :-D Which is exactly what I wish I could do. It's so frustrating to only be able to write a little each day and to have so many things in my head that want to come out! Argh. That said, I am hoping HOPING to post a Pinto fic by the end of the weekend. But it needs some serious polishing, and I am trying to do things like pay attention to my husband, so... I need another fucking snow day(s)! But, I promise to try to finish! Fuck it, I'll lose sleep to do so if I have to (I won't tell you how many times this week I forgot to finish my lunch/dinner because I was reading fic...don't worry, I ate a lot of ice cream to make up for it....mmm...ice cream....)

Oh, and also, LJ isn't sending me notifications of any responses to comments...at least, I assume that's the case, unless everyone simultaneously decided not to respond to comments on fic, which I highly doubt. It's so sad to wake up to an empty email box!

I also have other posts of awesomeness that I want to post - picspams and the like. Just letting you know so you stick around. I will be entertaining, I promise!

See, look, here's a little something to tide you over.

Finally caught up with my flist after skip 400, sheesh. Oh, and that's from yesterday. Now I have to catch up on today's. Plus I have about 400 tabs of fic open. How am i suppose to write when i have so much to read?! Never fear. I will manage both. Might need to quit my job though ;-)

Catching up on last week's Lost in preparation for tonight's.

Dan drove past a Sonic for work today and brought me a supersonic breakfast burrito. (We have a little Sonic obsession after not having one in the area for ever until this year.) I'm not sure how well it will hold up reheated, but i'm trying to decide whether to have it for second dinner tonight or breakfast tomorrow.

Okay, back to the fic!
therumjournals: (bones fingers)
A grown-up snow day!!! Hurrah! I WILL post fic today, i WILL, i WILL! (PS - It will be Pinto). And maybe a picspam or some recs too. SO MANY POSSIBILITIES! I'm also hoping to take my dog out and make her go in the snow against her will and take pictures. Because I'm a terrible pug mom. :-D

I have some questions for my flist - do any of you post on ff.net or k/s archive or anywhere else like that besides LJ? Is it worth it? Do you feel like you get new readers there? How do people find your fic there - is it by author or do they randomly stumble upon it based on the pairing/summary, etc?

Next question - I have two Pinto fanmixes that I want to put together but I've never done that before and I have no graphics skillz for the cover art. I have a concept for the cover art but not sure whether I should try to make them shittily in MS Paint or something, or if there is a simple program I could use (on my Mac) or if someone wants to collaborate and make some fanmix covers with/for me?

Okay, one more question that is a bit in advance - I'm working on an angsty Pinto fic that is going to spiral out of control, I can just tell. Not sure, maybe it will be 10-15k? So I will eventually need a beta and I figured I would ask here first. Probably won't be needed for another 2 or 3 weeks though.

I figure the more I talk about the fics I'm currently working on here, the more likely they are to get written. :-D

Aww, crap

I just opened like 15 tabs of new ST:XI fic to read.  That's from one day of LJ community postings / recs!  You people are too freaking prolific (not that I am complaining - AT ALL).  That's not including the 4 tabs I had open or the 80,000 word fic I'm in the middle of reading.  How am I supposed to write AND read all this stuff?

Beer might help.
