This morning we went to my parents' house. I had to sort/clean out a bunch of STUFF...and when I say "stuff", I mean papers from elementary school through college...look through school papers, notes, projects...pictures and gifts and notes from old boyfriends...stuff I collected throughout my travels, everything from a photo album from my first family trip to Europe when I was 11, through TONS of brochures, postcards, etc from my three months studying abroad in London...etc. I am so protective of that stuff - IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MEMORIES, MAN! (name that movie), so it was really hard for me. I got through about half of it and I was shaking at the end from the adrenaline and from just sucking it up and throwing stuff out. DON'T GET ME WRONG - I still saved a LOT! Luckily my parents were very supportive of me saving stuff...they were all "don't throw it out if you don't want to! you can always come back and sort it again in 5 years!" - but they did want me to kind of cull the madness and put most of the stuff in boxes. It was easy to throw out all my old college notes (keep in mind, I had gone through this stuff 8 years ago and decided to SAVE all that! so i guess it does get easier over time). But I still saved all of my school papers and creative writing projects from 8th grade, haha!

Oh, and did I find some TREASURES! Oh man, like a little journal/notebook that I spilled my guts out in (i never kept a diary, so when i wrote in this journal it was like these urgent outpourings, mostly professing love or angst for various real or fictional people). That little book also caused some serious pain when some girls at camp discovered it and read it out loud to my friends when I wasn't there. BUT - now that I can look back on it, I TOTALLY plan to quote some of it here for the LULZ :-D

Okay, moving on to the next part of the day, then we went to an Asian market to get some ingredients to make Vietnamese pho. Found lots of cool stuff at the market and then some stuff that was SERIOUSLY ODD. For instance, there was a sign that said:
BEEF AND GOAT
TESTES
PIZZLE

I could not make that up. There was also lots of stuff in the meat section, like your usual tongue and pigs ears and feet but then there were also veal LIPS - LIPS????? I think they had fur on them still! And then there were the "Chicken Uteri". WTF!?!?! Okay. I would eat it in another country to be honest, although it would help if Anthony Bourdain was feeding it to me, but still. It was ODD. (Oh, and in case you thought I could write a whole post without a Star Trek reference, there was also something labeled something like "Thi la")

Speaking of chefs, if I may have a small tangent, did anyone ever watch that show "Take Home Chef" with Curtis, the tall, hot Aussie?

THEN, when we were looking for a parking spot back at our apartment, we passed a car with a bumper sticker with the following slogan: "Chimps. Yes, you can eat them."
Again - WTF?

Then, because it's obviously just that kind of day, I gave in and read Pinto tentacle-porn. And made related macros.

What other weirdness have you got, day? Hit me! I can take it!
